John Rusk

John Rusk is a three-time nominee for his contributions to films recognized by the Directors Guild of America for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Motion Pictures. His most recent release was Devil, on which he was Co-Producer. Devil is his eighth collaboration with M. Night Shyamalan, having previously worked with him on The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village, Lady in the Water, The Happening, and The Last Airbender.

Rusk has participated in the production of over forty feature films and television shows, in addition to dozens of commercials. This includes Dead Poets Society, Avalon, A League of Their Own, Fearless, The Pelican Brief, Outbreak, Twelve Monkeys, As Good As It Gets, Tuck Everlasting, The Clearing and Doubt. Rusk was also an Associate Producer on Shyamalan’s Lady in the Water and The Happening.

Rusk has assisted numerous Oscar-nominated directors, including three films with Peter Weir and three with Alan J. Pakula. Other Oscar-nominated directors with whom he has worked include Barry Levinson, Wolfgang Petersen, Jonathan Demme, Terry Gilliam, John Patrick Shanley, Mark Rydell, and John Schlesinger. Rusk was also the Production Manager on Warren Beatty’s Bulworth.

Rusk, a graduate of the DGA-Producer Assistant Director Training Program, began his adventure into filmmaking in New York City in 1985. Upon completion of the program, Rusk began working as an Assistant Director. Prior to working in the film business, Rusk was a Media Specialist at two colleges and managed one of Delaware’s largest video production companies. He also wrote, produced, and directed numerous educational and instructional programs, as well as several regional commercials.

Rusk is currently preparing to produce several projects that will film primarily in the Philadelphia area.
